Battery Hedge Trimmer

Battery-powered hedge trimmers are ideal for gardeners who maintain small shrubs, and bush hedges every two to four weeks or so, depending on how fast the hedges grow out of control in the area where you live. One of the most important advantages of battery hedge trimmers over a gas-powered hedge trimmer is that there is no cord. A seasoned gardener knows how convenient cordless hedge trimmer models allow the trimming process to be because in certain circumstances it is easy to cut the electric cord by accident, which of course can be life-threatening. Plug the hedge trimmer back into the recharger overnight and the battery is fully charged again, and we are ready to trim again the next day. Don't forget that battery-operated hedge trimmers are usually suitable for light-duty line of work. You may need something more powerful if you have tall hedge fence walls in your backyard for which a pole hedge trimmer would be a more appropriate tool.

Recharging the Battery

Different models of battery hedge trimmers exist. It may be difficult to choose the right one if you are buying your first battery trimmer. Usually these trimming tools are powered by an 18 volt battery. To give you an example of how long it takes to recharge such a battery, Black and Decker's Hedge Hog battery-operated hedge trimmer will take up to 9 hours to fully recharge, but a 3 hour charge is sufficient enough for one trimming session. Other brands and models might take less time depending on the battery design.

Battery Lifetime

A battery will usually last sufficiently for a 30 to 45 minute runs between recharging. This makes it possible to trims up to 1200 square ft. per charge with a battery-operated hedge trimmer.
